History
From Merchant's Home to Guest Palace
Built in the late 18th century for a prosperous spice merchant, this riad stood at the crossroads of the medina's great trading routes. For decades it sheltered generations of a single family before falling into gentle disrepair.
In 2017, we acquired the property with a single conviction: restore it not as a museum, but as a living palace — a place where guests could experience the Morocco we fell in love with, one of craft, warmth, and unhurried beauty.
Every surface was considered. Zellige artisans from Fez recreated lost patterns. Cedar carvers from the Atlas villages repaired centuries-old moucharabieh screens. Tadelakt specialists replastered walls in the traditional lime method. The work took seven years. We would not have rushed it.
